Which Licences Are Valid in the UAE?
Visitors from the GCC, USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, most EU countries, and several other approved nations can drive on their home licence without an International Driving Permit. Visitors from other countries need their home licence plus an IDP issued in the same country. If you hold a UAE residence visa, you must have a UAE driving licence — a foreign licence is no longer valid once residency is issued.

Insurance: What’s Covered and What Isn’t
Comprehensive insurance is included with every rental, covering third-party liability and accident damage subject to a policy excess. Commonly excluded across the UAE rental industry (and worth understanding before any desert trip):
- Off-road driving and sand/dune damage — rental cars are not covered off tarmac
- Tyre punctures, rim damage, and undercarriage damage
- Damage while driving under the influence or breaking traffic law
- Interior damage and lost keys
Always photograph the car at handover and report any incident to us and the police immediately — a police report is required for any insurance claim in the UAE.
Payments Accepted
We accept major cards and bank transfer; ask about cash terms for long-term rentals. All quoted rates are transparent — see our post on how to avoid hidden rental fees in Dubai.
Cancellations & Extensions
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pickup on standard bookings. Extensions are easy — message us before your return date and we’ll update the agreement. Returning early? Contact us to discuss pro-rated terms.
